Hey! I’m Daniel Badelita and I run Daniel Badelita Music Studio here in Narre Warren. For 26 years, I’ve been passionate and enthusiastic about playing the piano, and for the past 14 years I’ve been passing my knowledge and skills to the next generation of musicians who share a similar passion for music. Music has shaped nearly every part of my life as I’ve completed many examinations for both pianoforte and music theory at AMEB, accompanied numerous students for examinations and concerts, accompanied a church choir for over a 2 decades, and participated in a few competitions.

I am a qualified primary and secondary school teacher, so I relate well to students of all ages and levels. I have developed my own method for teaching which focuses on thorough technique. Through this method, I have helped many students experience outstanding results. My students generally stay with me for many years and most of them continue learning the violin until they reach and pass the highest AMEB levels. Cello Lessons - Suzuki and Traditional

Jonathan Tosio holds a BMus (perf) and STCA (Primary), and has taught cello for 16 years, including at Camberwell Grammar, Trinity Grammar, Xavier College and East Bentleigh Primary School in its Steiner stream. He teaches from a home studio in Windsor, drawing on both Suzuki and Traditional methods and adapting his approach to each student. Lessons focus on efficient body set-up and tone, with a preparatory period offered for young Suzuki students aged 3 to 6. Prospective students are welcome to observe a lesson before starting.

Alexander White holds a Master of Arts (Music Performance), an Honours Degree in Advanced Musical Performance Studies and a Bachelor of Music Performance, and has taught for 20 years, including ten as Head of Strings at Mount Waverley Secondary College. He has also taught at schools such as Melbourne Grammar, MacRobertson Girls' School and Tintern Grammar, and tutored for the Melbourne Youth Music Program, the Victorian State School Spectacular and the Monash University Academy Orchestra. Curlew has been teaching drums for 15 years in Toorak, preparing students for AMEB and Trinity exams. Casey Greene graduated in Jazz Studies from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 1985 and studied under Don Burrows AO MBE. Casey worked full time in Sydney musical theatre from 1985 to 2004, playing in productions including Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Les Miserables and Chicago, and has performed as a jazz soloist across the UK. Teaching has spanned schools in Australia, the UK and Wales, along with private one to one lessons from 2004 to 2020, with students going on to full time university music study. Lessons cover clarinet, saxophone and flute, are held online via video call with flexible scheduling by request, and include preparation for classical or jazz exams.

Erin Mannix holds a British Diploma of Musical Theatre from Associated Studios and completed full time Acting for Stage and Screen at Patrick School of the Arts, along with study at Justin Lehmann Acting Studio, short courses with NIDA, APO Arts Academy Melbourne, ASA, AAA, The Space and Andrew Byrne, and Estill Method vocal training. Her private singing training has been with Leontine Hass, Adam Lyon, Amanda Colliver and Martin Croft, and she has performed in the contemporary music scene since age 13 in stage bands, choirs, bands, duos and as a solo vocalist nationally, as well as in theatre productions including Phantom of the Opera, Fiddler on the Roof, Wicked, Beauty and the Beast, Pride and Prejudice and Repentance Creek. Lessons are hands-on and practical, tailored to each student, combining vocal exercises and warmups with chosen repertoire and a holistic focus on safe, effective vocal technique. She teaches in St Kilda East and Balaclava, St Albans and online.

Piano Lessons

Daniel Mougerman completed a Bachelor of Music at Monash University in 2015, studying with Paul Grabowsky, Tony Gould and Sam Keevers, and has since taken Afro-Cuban piano lessons with Alejandro Falcon in Cuba, jazz piano with Benito Gonzales in New York, and private tuition from John Taylor in Italy and Brent Fischer. He performs with The Bamboos, Adrian Eagle, Rita Satch and his own groups, and has toured Australia, Europe and the USA with appearances at The Great Escape, Jam Cruise, Byron Bay Bluesfest and the Melbourne International Jazz Festival. From his Balaclava studio he prepares students for AMEB exams as well as tertiary institution and scholarship auditions, with students winning competitions around Victoria, being selected as pianists for the Victorian State School Spectacular, and going on to study at Monash University and the VCA. He encourages students to seek out performance opportunities, whether they are working towards exams or playing recreationally.

Singing Lessons

Viva School of Music teaches from studios in Camberwell and Blackburn, with a teaching team holding qualifications from institutions including the Melbourne, Sydney and Queensland Conservatoriums, Monash University, Berklee College of Music, the Conservatorium of Amsterdam and Lasalle College of the Arts, along with masters degrees from Rostock, Tehran and PA University. Drum lessons cover jazz, classical and contemporary genres. A free first lesson is offered, and students have their playing captured through performance recordings.

Samuel Davey - Guitar Tuition & Repair

Samuel Davey teaches guitar in Box Hill South, drawing on seven years of teaching experience. He spent five years in guitar construction, maintenance and repair at Maton Guitars in Box Hill, and also offers services such as restringing, setups, pickup installation, fretwork, nut and saddle making and tuning machine replacement. Lessons are run privately, one to one.

Anton holds an AMusA and is studying Composition and Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music. He has prepared students for AMEB and VCE exams and tutors VCE and IB Music, alongside teaching classical and popular repertoire, jazz, improvisation, composition, orchestration, arranging and ear training, as well as trumpet in classical, jazz and contemporary styles. Singing lessons for neurodivergent people and people with disabilities

Jackie studied Jazz (Voice) Performance at the Victorian College of the Arts, and also holds Honours in Psychology and a UK Masters scholarship examining the role of music in conflict resolution. She has worked as a professional singer for over 15 years, performing regularly in Melbourne as a jazz and contemporary vocalist, and was classically trained as a child in voice, clarinet and piano. Her lessons are tailored to individual goals, with a focus on vocal technique and performance skills, pitch and harmony exercises, and work on performance songs. She has experience working with students with ASD and disabilities, adapts lessons for all abilities, and teaches at students' homes or online via Zoom or Skype.

Roslyn Walters is a Certified Ultimate Music Theory Teacher who has taught piano and classroom music for nearly thirty years. She has prepared students for exams, including AMEB theory to Grade 4. Lessons in Noble Park are offered in person or online, with an emphasis on enjoyment and encouragement, and a free introductory lesson is available.

Double Bass Lessons

Jonah Grant holds a Bachelor of Music Performance (Jazz) from Monash University and works as a double bass player in Melbourne. He teaches from home in Elsternwick and can also travel to a student's location for a travel fee. His lessons build technical, aural and theoretical skills, with an emphasis on relaxed physical technique using large muscle groups and on aural pattern recognition as a way of learning music.

Piano Tutor (Improv, Theory, Composition, Sight-Reading)

Joseph Fiddes holds a Diploma in Music, a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Mechatronics Engineering, all from the University of Melbourne. He has 20 years of piano playing experience, completed VCE in 2018 with subjects including Music Performance, and did some tutoring in 2017. His lessons in piano, theory and composition centre on practice across a varied set of problems and attention to detail, and he prepares students for exams.

Banjo Lessons

Gus Macmillan has played banjo professionally for 35 years, including 21 years touring Australia and 11 years touring America, Europe and Asia with the band Blue Grassy Knoll. He studied with banjo teachers in the USA in 2003, has taken masterclasses with Bela Fleck and Noam Pikelny, and won the two tune pick off at the 2005 Guildford Banjo Jamboree. He tailors the syllabus to each student, working on picking technique from the start and giving achievable tunes early, along with his own written out tunes and exercises, slow recordings and playlists drawn from YouTube and Spotify. Lessons run from a dedicated space at his home in Brunswick, with Zoom available for students outside the Melbourne metro area.

Bass Guitar Lessons

Jon Randall spent 11 years performing in cover bands in the USA and 20 years doing the same in Australia, and he posts free bass lessons on YouTube. He teaches students in the USA via Skype and has had students perform live with his band there. Lessons are tailored to each student's goals, with a structured option mixing theory and songs, and cover practical ground such as learning songs quickly, stage notes, recording, video editing and website building. He also helps students learn songs for their bands, write bass lines and prepare for auditions, offers loaner basses and amps for beginners, and teaches online via Skype, FaceTime and Zoom.

Guitar Lessons - Lee Jones, Ph.D.

Lee Jones teaches guitar in Melbourne and prepares students for graded repertoire through ABRSM, Rockschool and AMEB. He has authored an ebook available on ResearchGate. His lessons emphasise fundamental technique across rhythm and lead guitar, covering both plectrum and fingerstyle playing, sight-reading, ear training and transcription. He also works on improvisation, composition and arranging, and helps students build practice routines.

Thomas Summerfield

Thomas Summerfield teaches piano in Spotswood and prepares students for AMEB piano examinations. Lessons follow the AMEB syllabus structure, opening with a short block of technical work such as scales and arpeggios before spending most of the time on repertoire chosen to be challenging but achievable. INDIVIDUALLY TAILORED GUITAR LESSONS

Josh taught guitar as well as bands and ensembles at primary and secondary schools across Melbourne from 2008 to 2011. Based in Pascoe Vale, he tailors each lesson to the individual student, covering guitar techniques and chord vocabulary. Lessons also draw on the playing styles of well known artists.
