Music for Canberra is a not-for-profit organisation that provides access to high quality, inspiring, and inclusive musical experiences for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities in the ACT and surrounding regions. We believe that music-making plays a vital role in creating community and friendships, as well as developing and maintaining cognitive function. Music for Canberra prioritises making these benefits accessible for everyone, through curating fun and engaging learning opportunities.

Music lessons (Face 2 Face or video) - Jazz Saxophone, Clarinet, Guitar

Richie has been teaching for 25 years and offers clarinet, saxophone and guitar lessons from Double Bay, as well as online lessons via Skype and Zoom. Lessons are structured and matched to each student's level, with practice tips provided along the way. He aims to keep the learning environment non-judgmental.

Richie has been teaching for 25 years and offers clarinet, saxophone and guitar lessons from Double Bay, as well as online lessons via Skype and Zoom. Mobile Clarinet Lessons

Scott has been teaching for eight years and brings over 12 years of performance experience, along with competition wins at state and local level. He runs a mobile teaching service from Kenmore, working with students in their own homes on piano, saxophone and clarinet. He also arranges requested songs to suit each student's level, with the aim of motivating them to keep improving.

Saxophone

Casey Greene graduated in Jazz Studies from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 1985 and studied under Don Burrows AO MBE. Casey worked full time in Sydney musical theatre from 1985 to 2004, playing in productions including Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Les Miserables and Chicago, and has performed as a jazz soloist across the UK. Teaching has spanned schools in Australia, the UK and Wales, along with private one to one lessons from 2004 to 2020, with students going on to full time university music study. Lessons cover clarinet, saxophone and flute, are held online via video call with flexible scheduling by request, and include preparation for classical or jazz exams.

Clarinet Lessons

Nick holds a Bachelor of Music in Clarinet Performance with High Distinction from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, along with an AMEB AMusA in clarinet. A freelance musician based in Sydney, he has performed in orchestras, chamber ensembles and as a soloist, won the Sydney Conservatorium and UNSW Concerto Competitions, and received the Patricia Lucas Music Achievement Scholarship and the Edna Wilde Scholarship. He has published arrangements for woodwind instruments, works in music recording and production, and is familiar with the HSC and AMEB syllabuses. His Turramurra lessons are goal focused and efficient, with enrolment numbers limited, and he prepares students for competitions and scholarships.

Saxophone Lessons

Carl Bundesen holds an AMEB LMusA, a Bachelor of Music (Honours) in Piano and a Bachelor of Education (Secondary), along with AMEB Grade 8 Saxophone and Grade 6 Theory. He studied under Dr Anna Grinberg and has been teaching for 10 years. Lessons run from his Ashgrove home studio, which has two Yamaha acoustic pianos. His teaching focuses on technique and musicality, and covers both performance and music theory.

Any Age or Ability - Piano Lessons

Isobel Archer is a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium piano program and has studied and performed in Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and France. She teaches from a private studio with a grand piano in Centennial Park and prepares students for AMEB grades. Lessons are shaped around each student's own musical goals, covering theory, aural skills and technical work, and she also supports those who simply want to play for enjoyment.

Clarinet Lessons: specialising in beginners, audition and exam preparation

Andrew Fong trained at the Australian National Academy of Music, studying with Paul Dean, David Griffiths and David Thomas, and taking lessons with Michael Collins, Thorsten Johanns, Dimitri Ashkenazy, Phillip Arkinstall and Justin Beere. He made his ABC radio solo debut in 2018 with Debussy's Premiere Rhapsody, toured internationally with the Australian Youth Orchestra in 2019, and has performed with the Australian World Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria and Victorian Opera. He currently performs with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Southern Cross Soloists and the Candlelight Concert Orchestra in Brisbane, and is a specialist clarinet tutor at John Paul College and Stuartholme School, where students have progressed past AMus level and into tertiary music study. His lessons focus on a strong technical foundation and musical literacy, and can be taken at his studio, at the student's location or online.

Bass Guitar Lessons

The Learning Lounge in Turramurra has 14 teachers working with around 250 students a week across voice, piano, guitar, saxophone, violin, clarinet, trumpet, bass and flute. Lessons are one on one in dedicated rooms, with some teachers offering AMEB and Rock School exams. Students can be prepared for graded exams on request, or supported in learning for fun or for playing in a band.

Clarinet Tutoring | Teacher travels to your home for lessons

Gliss Music School teaches violin, cello, clarinet and piano from its base in Epping, and prepares students for AMEB exams. Tutors travel to the student's home for lessons, and a trial lesson is offered so families can check the match with a teacher before continuing.
